Administration’s Message:
This year, the beginning of April brings Easter, the Easter season, and the start of our Liturgical Year. We celebrate this season for 7 weeks until Pentecost.
During the month of April, students at St. Mary will participate in a month-long initiative to care for our earth. Daily tasks are set up for both home and school. Please check our April Calendar for details. We will also participate in a community clean-up day on Monday April 24th.
We begin planning with our Equity and Inclusion Team, to build a medicine garden in our yard. This garden will be planted by our current students and some grade 3 students from St. Greg’s, during our open house visit. We look forward to this garden and to the corresponding Medicine Wheel teachings delivered by Kokum Marlene.
Our connection to St. Mary Parish remains strong as we participate in the school Easter Mass on April 20th at 10:30 am. We are planning The Stations of the Cross, on Holy Thursday at 1:15 pm. Students will recite the stations, led by Mrs. Beckstead’s grade 6 class.
A special thank you to our Catholic Parent Council and to all members of our school community for supporting our Big Box of Cards sales. We have successfully raised $7320.00! Parent Council has also organized Poppa Jacks popcorn each Wednesday, for the months of April and May. The cost is $2.00. Students can bring money to school on Wednesdays to purchase a bag of popcorn.
Registrations at St. Mary are ongoing. If your son or daughter is coming to Grade 4 in September 2023, we ask that your completed registration forms are dropped off at our office. Our registration days run from Wednesday April 19th to Friday April 21st.
On behalf of the staff, I would like to wish all members of our school community, a Holy and Blessed Easter Season.
Yours in Catholic Education,
Karen Carriere
Principal
